First, you’ll need to remove the unit from the window. Be sure to turn it off and unplug it first. Next, you’ll need to remove the front grille. This is usually attached with screws. Once the grille is off, you can begin cleaning the unit with a soft cloth. Dust all the surfaces, including the coils.
After you’ve dusted the unit, you can begin cleaning the filter. Most window AC units have a removable filter that can be washed with soap and water. Rinse the filter thoroughly, and allow it to air dry before putting it back in the unit.
Once the filter is dry, you can reassemble the unit and put it back in the window. Turn it on, and set the temperature before you enjoy the cool air.
